After the shock news of her recent passing it appears that the jewellery of stunning singer and star of The Bodyguard, Whitney Houston, will be auctioned off as early as next month.

Whitney only passed away on 11th February but Julien’s Auctions were keen to include her lot in the Hollywood Legends auction. This auction will comprise more than 800 items of Hollywood memorabilla including a vintage Christian Dior gown worn by Grace Kelly, a Catherine Walker gown designed for Princess Diana and Richard Gere's hat from An Officer and a Gentleman.

Included in Whitney’s lot is a black floor-length, velvet gown with high collar and embellishment to the neck and waist of metallic silver ribbon and black and clear stones, giving the illusion of a necklace and belt.  A vest and a pair of pearl drop earrings worn by Whitney in The Bodyguard will also go under the hammer.

The auction held by Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, will take place on 31st March and 1st April. Items are on view at Julien's Auctions gallery in Beverly Hills at 9665 Wilshire Boulevard from 10.00am to 5.00pm daily from 19th March until the auction begins.

Julien's Auctions have been criticised for putting Whitney’s jewellery and clothes to auction so soon after her death but they have responded by saying: “It's a celebration of her life...These items are historic now that she has passed. They become a part of history. They should be in museums. She's lived a life and had a career that nobody else has ever had.

“For people who are fans of Whitney Houston and never would have had a chance to meet her and never got to talk to her, these are items that literally touched a part of her life. They are a way to relate to her or be a part of her life without having known her.”
