Annie Haak Designs only use the finest sterling silver to craft our jewellery and you’ll find the 925 mark on each piece in our collection. However, we’re pleased to hear that now shopping for quality jewellery online will be even easier for customers with the introduction of digital hallmarks.

Like everything these days, hallmarks have gone digital! When shopping for jewellery online it can be hard to identify whether the e-tailer is selling genuine sterling silver jewellery. However, Assay Assured, administered by the Edinburgh Assay Office, allows online jewellers to apply for a digital hallmark for their website which lets customers know that their jewellery is the real deal.

Every piece of platinum, gold, and silver jewellery sold in the UK is required by law to be hallmarked by one of the four independent Assay Offices (weight conditions apply). However, there is a lot of trust involved when buying jewellery online and this is why Annie Haak Designs is so successful as a brand.

We always listen to what our customers want and create quality sterling silver jewellery that will make you look and feel amazing; we find that our customers reward us by returning to buy from our online boutique time and again.  Research from the Office of Fair Trading has revealed that lack of trust can stop consumers buying from smaller, unknown retailers.

The idea of digital hallmarking is to help customers tell the difference between the genuine online retailers and those masquerading as other brands or selling rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings made from non-precious metals.

Chief executive of the Edinburgh Assay Office, Scott Walter, said:

“Today online shoppers have no way of checking whether a piece of jewellery is hallmarked or not. The new scheme, called Assay Assured, is a digital solution to an ancient problem and we believe it will provide the protection consumers need online.”

Some retailers have already applied for their digital hallmarks. This involves an audit and then, as long as they comply with the Hallmarking Act, they will be awarded a certificate to display on their website. Annie Haak Designs is keen to follow suit and Annie says:

“We’re proud to say that all of our jewellery is crafted from the finest sterling silver and we want our customers to rest assured. We’ll are currently applying for our digital hallmark and will let you all know when it’s up on the website authenticating the quality of Annie Haak Designs jewellery.”
