Annie Haak is so excited about the attention fashion accessories are getting at the moment and we’ve just heard that Grazia is launching a competition called Hat Factor. This search to find the UK’s next big thing in hat design starts at the end of March.

Hat Factor launches on 30th March and the winner will not only have their hat designs featured in Grazia but will also get the chance to be part of the London 2012 Festival, in celebration of the London 2012 Olympics.

This competition is open to fashion students, fashion accessory designers who are just starting out and anyone with a creative flair who fancies trying their hand at becoming a celebrated milliner. All you have to do is take your finished hat design, prototype or sketch along to the Grazia offices in London between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm on 30th March and present them to a fantastic panel of judges. The judging panel consists of Grazia editors, London’s Head of Cultural Policy and the Joint Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council and Fashion 2012 as well as milliners extraordinaire Philip Treacy and Stephen Jones.

Top sterling silver jewellery designer Annie Haak of Annie Haak Designs has commented on the hope attention like this brings to the fashion accessories industry at large:

“Hat Factor is such a great idea. We love how much press fashion accessories are getting at the moment. There has been much more focus on hats, bags, shoes and jewellery in recent fashion events and catwalk shows. We want people to wear their jewellery and accessories with pride and we’ve been waiting a long time for the industry to give them as much presence as clothing; at least now things seem to be well on their way!”
