The World’s Largest Emerald is for sale
Follow the Yellow Brick Road. Follow the Yellow Brick Road...We’re off to the Emerald City! Well, not literally, but we’re about to witness the world’s largest emerald being auctioned off. How much do you think this green goddess will fetch?
At the end of January the world’s biggest emerald is going up for auction at Western Star Auctions, British Columbia, Canada. Weighing in at 11.5 kilograms and around 12 inches in length, the jewel, which is called Teodora (God's Gift), has been appraised at a cool $1.15 million.
The dark green emerald, which has been described as quite spectacular, was discovered in Brazil and then sent to India to be cut. It’s now in Canada until the auction and is very heavily guarded.
