We’re sure that under those sleek brunette locks, Victoria Beckham’s ears must have been burning during New York Fashion Week because it seems that she was the most popular designer in the Twittersphere at that time.

Overall, the number of Tweets associated with New York Fashion Week were twice that at last year's spring collection, with a total of 671,028 mentions. Reports show that the super-chic designer not only earned a total of 57,000 new followers but there were also over 17,000 mentions of Victoria Beckham’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection from 14-18th September. When all the hashtags, trends, followers and mentions for popular designers were considered, VB pipped Marc Jacobs, Dian Von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang and Michael Kors to the post.

However, this was no fluke. Victoria Beckham, like Annie Haak Designs, uses Twitter as part of her brand awareness strategy. We find that both Twitter and Facebook are excellent ways of communicating with our fans and making more people aware of our sterling silver jewellery. Similarly, when talking about Twitter to Women’s Wear Daily, Victoria Beckham said:

“It’s to build an engaged audience through both personal and brand messaging. I used Twitter a lot during last season and particularly during New York Fashion Week. It gave me the opportunity to share the experience of the show with everyone following me. That’s something I plan to continue.

“It’s been a really interesting experience. I would imagine some of the growth can be linked to the fact that I try to give some personal insights to my followers as well as keeping them abreast of the business.

“I also think that my fans and customers really get to know me and my sense of humour through my tweets. I think people see the real me.

We’re thrilled everyone was talking about a British designer during New York Fashion Week, what a coup for the industry, and most specifically, VB! Remember to keep flying that British flag on Twitter and sharing the Annie Haak love, you’ll find us at @AnnieHaak, do follow us and stop by to say Hi xx
